nice setting
1 - I have been there 4 times and the service has gone from bad to worse. most of the waitresses are rude, inattentive and rushed.
2 - the food used to be good 4 years ago but is now completely weird. Some of it is really bland, some of it just doesn't go well together ( try wasabi macaroon with your coffee!). Basically you feel like some weird chemist is experimenting on you.
3 - bread was stale which is not acceptable in such an expensive place.
they deserved to lose their Michelin star.

At the time of writing October 2010 Alex Gaulthier has moved on to his own restaurant in Soho. Had the tasting menu, which is similar to the one under the previous chef. However some of the flavour combinations were a little discordant, and the cooking less precise. Still same friendly and well informed staff.
Not quite as precise as it used to be.

sublime, sophiticated and unfussy food, especially truffle risotto, consomme with foie gras, venison with red-wine poached pear and truffled celeriac mousse, signature Louis Quinze chocolate dessert; great ingredients, clean tastes, elegant, simple presentation; the delightful maitre d's relaxed, assured welcome, which extended over our entire first visit; a lively yet also comforting room; space between tables; excellent, friendly table service from a young brigade; charming, knowledgable French sommelier and heavily French (as it should be!) wine list; dinner 3 course menu price (£60 + service) correct for quality provided; parking outside easy at night
very few; at first sight a very expensive wine list (but we were guided to an excellent Roussillon red at £32); toilet not in great condition; coffee only average (but tea excellent)
Crêpe dentelle comme un mille-feuille selon Christian Le Squer
