Tasting menu with wine for four. We were astonished by the quality of the food, very accomplished and skillful cooking with great - not too formal - service. Highlights included the cheeky curried carrot pannacotta with bhaji, the locally sourced (as was much of the menu) venison with pan haggerty and a quince souffle with bay ice cream. An excellent cheese selection too.

Modern restaurant in an old pub with pleasant staff.
Two out of the three scallops had no taste, this was the case for both of us (£4 supplement). The main dish, rabbit with black pudding, had been briefly roasted on the outside after being fashionably boiled in the bag. The meat therefore had no taste(except on the outside)and the texture could have been chicken. The trio of desserts was a mixture of very good and indifferent. There is clearly skill in the kitchen but it is misdirected.
